Grab your sword and slay the Goblin King!

Anguna: Scourge of the Goblin King is a new action-adventure game for the original NES! Grab your sword, escape the dungeon, and slay the Goblin King in this epic new NES homebrew game. This exciting new chapter in the Anguna series continues the tale of our unfortunate hero as he once again finds himself imprisoned by a great evil. In your quest, you will need to find items, gain experience, crush evil hordes of minions, and defeat harrowing bosses! Do you have what it takes to save the Land of Anguna?

Anguna: SotGK Features:

  • A variety of terrain and obstacles
  • Five dungeons hidden across a vast overworld
  • Many items and power-ups to aid you in your quest
  • Over 20 enemies that will try and stop you along the way
  • A fully illustrated bestiary
  • Flash saving; no more holding reset when powering off, or batteries that will fail (always important in a digital ROM ;) )
  • An open ended quest, allowing you to choose your own path!

Anguna: Scourge of the Goblin King continues the Anguna series that Nathan Tolbert (Bite the Chili Productions) started way back in 2003 on the Game Boy Advance. One of the "old timers" in the homebrew scene, Tolbert has been making games for classic consoles for nearly two decades! A professional programmer by day, his nights have been filled with tackling anything from the rather tricky 8-bit Atari 2600, all of the way up to the 128-bit Sega Dreamcast.

Anguna: SotGK is also available as a real NES cart, complete in box (CIB). The ROM file is supported in most emulators, particularly FCEUX and MESEN. Whether on a PC, emulator box, or vintage console, we're keeping #8BitLegit games alive and well into the 21st century!

Purchase includes NES ROM (.nes) file.

Great game. ive been playing it all night. get the notebook out boys, time to draw up a map like the old days. think i may pick up the cart too. well done.

Thanks so much for the support! And yes, this is a great game for map making. Nathan Tolbert did a fantastic job creating this game for his Anguna universe.

This game is amazing.  What is the best place to report a potential bug?  I think I got into a stuck state in the dungeon with the bat boss.  I reached the bat boss through a secret passage and didn’t trigger the blue orb first.  After beating the boss, I can’t exit through the blue orb gate and the secret passage is closed.  https://imgur.com/a/71B1G4h.  If there is a way out, it isn’t obvious to me at all :)

I love the game so far.   However, I can't save my file.  I paid for the digital ROM and am using my Analogue NT Mini Noir to play it; although it supports Mapper 30, it doesn't support flash saving.  Would it be be possible to release the game on a different mapper that uses battery saves so I don't have to use my laptop?  Thanks!

Hey there,

Glad that you're enjoying the game! This is something that we are looking into moving forward, though if a dev uses certain features of mapper 111, or uses them in certain ways, legacy mappers are not a viable option without cutting features or content. My personal advice as a PowerPak and EverDrive user would be to use save states if they are supported by the NT Mini Noir. I do not know enough about the system to know if they are supported or not, however. Thanks for the feedback, and we'll see what we can do in the future on our end, though hopefully Analogue offers a fuller feature set by then.

I understand and may purchase an EverDrive in the future.; the NT Mini does support those.  Thanks for the quick reply and look forward to your future releases!
